Megan said that Iceland looks like you are on another world. Iceland has miles of untouched land that has unearthly beauty and numerous natural attractions. With the increased tourism in Iceland, I suggest you go as soon as you can to explore as much of the island before it becomes overrun.
Glacier Lagoon/Diamond Beach - This was one of favorite places in Iceland. The contrast between the clear crystal glacier and the black sand beach is simply unforgettable. From the base of glacier lagoon, you will be able to see broken off pieces of the adjacent glacier larger than houses with the smaller pieces washing ashore.
Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach - This black sand beach located just outside the small city of Vik is a must see destination on the south coast of the island. Walking along the beach, you will be able to see the waves crash against huge basalt columns.
Kirkjufell - Famous landmark located in the Snæfellsnes Peninsula and is featured on Game of Thrones. The mountain is the most photographed place in Iceland, and it is easy to see why.
Gulfoss - Gulfoss is one of the major attractions on the Golden Circle. This waterfall is comparable in size to Niagara Falls, and the sheer power of the water rushing over the end is incredible. As you approach the waterfall, it will take your breath away!
Geysir - The Great Geysir is located within the Golden Circle. The Geysir shoots up to 100 ft in the air and goes off every few minutes. Since it is located on Golden Circle the best time to go is in the early morning or evening to avoid crowds.
Reykjavik - The capital of Iceland is home to about 37% of Iceland's population. This quaint town has a unique, quirky culture that is easy to see even after a few minutes walking around the streets. The city is rather small, and many of the large attractions can be visited in one day. The Hallgrímskirkja Cathedral is a must see in the city. For a few dollars, you can ride the elevator up to the top for a panoramic view of the city. While in Reykjavik, make sure you check out some of the top restaurants in the country to try authentic Icelandic cuisine.
Blue Lagoon - Perhaps one of the most popular hot springs in the world! It definitely lives up to the hype! This spa day creates the perfect break during your adventure. The milky blue water stays at a perfect temperature for pure relaxation.
Seljalandsfoss - The south coast of Iceland is full of waterfalls and it is hard to not pull over every 5 minutes as you drive past another incredible waterfall. Seljalandsfoss just another beautiful waterfall that allows you to have a 360 degree view! That's right, you can walk behind this waterfall but make sure you bring a raincoat because you will get wet!
Kerið - Kerið is a volcanic crater lake located on the Golden Circle. The crater was formed by a volcanic eruption. The caldera itself is approximately 180 ft deep, 560 ft wide, and 890 ft across.
Fjaðrárgljúfur - About a fifteen minute hike to the top of the canyon to where the picture below was taken. This place is so much more beautiful then pictures can capture.
